The Seven Remarkable Bears

 'The Seven Remarkable Bears'
by Emilie Warren McLeod,
illustrated by Juliet Kepes, 1954

Po was just about the dirtiest, skinniest polar bear in the zoo and,
worst of all, he was always hungry. Mr. Fitz brought him only one fish a
day, and one Sunday Po said he needed another for a friend. Day by day
he added friends, until Mr. Fitz was completely confused, because he
couldn't see but one polar bear - Po. The seven remarkable
bears were truly remarkable and visitors came
from all over to visit them
